The Discovery Systems Division of GE Healthcare performs research and development of products in the areas of genomics, proteomics, and cell biology, most relying heavily on biophotonics. GE is also a leader in the development of pre-clinical and medical instruments.
Located in Rochester, NY, Lucid has more than 15 years of experience in the development of in vivo imaging systems. Lucid’s leading products are confocal microscopes for imaging skin, oral and epithelial tissues in vivo and bulk excised tissues ex vivo.
NIRx develops systems for optical tomographic imaging of various diseases such as breast cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and vascular dysfunction. NIRx instruments have also been used for research into functional brain imaging.
CIRi develops and manufactures a broad portfolio of liquid crystal-based instruments and components for multispectral and polarized-light imaging, quantitative metrology, and optical tuning and modulation
Brookhaven National Laboratories, as a national laboratory, performs basic research in such areas as the synthesis of inorganic-biomaterial heterostructures, the programmed assembly of nanomaterials utilizing biological selectivity, soft matter and biophysics, and the development of new environmental and biosensors. There are several on-going collaborations between IGERT faculty and Brookhaven researchers, as well as extensive use of their unique facilities for synchrotron radiation, nanoscale materials fabrication and characterization.
